About Throwback Thursdays: In February of 2013, there were merely 400 events created in Social Tables. Fast forward 12 months and that number had skyrocketed to 12,000. Today, we have over 170,000 events in our library. To recognize our dedicated customers, we have created a new series entitled Throwback Thursdays: A Look at Our Favorite Events from the Social Tables Vault to showcase those clients who have created exceptional diagrams with our software.

Client: Communities In Schools

Event from the Vault: An Evening to Honor Elaine Wynn

Take a Look: When you hear the name “Wynn” you may associate it with the epitome of Las Vegas luxury, but you should also associate this name with compassion. Elaine Wynn, philanthropist and co-founder of Wynn Resorts, serves on the Board for Communities In Schools, an organization which supports and empowers students in public schools to stay in school and excel in life, for 15 years.

Tim Plant, Vice President of Constituent Engagement for CIS, said the organization’s board of directors wanted to recognize their biggest champion, Mrs. Wynn, for all she has done for their organization. What better way to do this than to throw an event in her honor! The 300-person celebration included alumni, supporters and friends of CIS, who enjoyed an evening held at the magnificent Cipriani Midtown East in New York City.

This highly detailed event had changes to the attendee list up to the very last hour, which led changes including the number of chairs per table, and adjustments to the overall event set-up to maintain the balance of the space. Being able to make these changes on the fly was imperative in keeping everyone involved on the same page. Thank to the web-based software offered by Social Tables, Tim and team had access to the most updated event information at all times.

For the room set, there was a great use of varying shapes and sizes of the tables throughout, but perhaps the most unique challenge of the event flow was providing enough room for the marching band (yes, a marching band!) to lead the guests from the reception area into the dining area.  It would have been an unfortunate situation if the bass drum knocked into a perfectly set table with full wine glasses! Luckily, having the ability to import and appropriately scale a diagram of the event space into Social Tables made it much easier prevent a catastrophe such as this from happening.

We are so proud of the team at Communities In Schools for executing such a memorable and special evening, and we are so happy we could help such a terrific organization recognize such a wonderful woman!
